Freeride PERFECT BACKCOUNTRY IN THE SNOW WORLD
The snow world of Damüls-Mellau offers freeriders a fantastic area for cross-country skiing. The most beautiful slopes of deep snow, exciting routes and excellent skiing with incredible panoramas make for holidays full of adventure.
WHITE POWDER EVERYWHERE – GOOD, CLEAN FUN!
The landscape is exceptionally spacious in many parts and offers a lot of variety – freeriding fun of the highest order is promised here at altitudes of up to 2000 m. The most sensible thing to do is to enjoy cross-country skiing outside the designated ski routes with a skiing instructor/ski guide – so that the holiday remains a safe experience despite your tingling nerves!
However: a slope covered in fresh snow might offer a feast for the eyes, an adrenaline rush and pure temptation for every winter sportsperson. But: the very same slope may be a home for the mountain’s other inhabitants – as well as the arena of their winter fight for survival. Animals’ search for food becomes harder in the cold season, and they lose more energy due to the cold – so the inhabitants of alpine terrain are subjected to a constant endurance test. What to do? Exactly. As best we can, let’s keep stress away from their territory. Whether it’s roe or red deer, fox or ptarmigan: they are all looking for a way to survive the cold season. Let’s afford them the space they need – and respect their territory!
